Bushwhacker
Bushwhacker is about 22 minutes away from downtown Boulder.
Bushwhacker is 2 miles south of Nederland
GPS Coordinates
- Latitude: N/A
- Longitude: N/A
Bushwhacker is part of a very large and easily accessible
piece of national forest just south of Nederland. Within this
piece of land there are other fields yet to be named but some
of which are already marked on the maps below. At the end
of county road 132W which runs through this land lies Bushwhacker
and is impossible to miss since the road comes to a dead end.
Bushwhacker itself is very large but within 300 yards, it
is very serene with tall pines, soft ground (there seems to
be lots of pine needles and soft dirt on the ground which
makes it springy), round smooth boulders, short brush, and
the occasional 3 foot deep crater (maybe an old tree that
fell over and was uprooted?). It is uphill to the south in
levels, however, it is not a rocky climb like you may expect.
The field changes the further you travel south from anywhere
between old forest/small brush and baby pines. (it is pretty
interesting to see these 3-4 foot deep craters scattered which
are not seen at fields outside this area)

Links to this area
From Boulder
- From Boulder take Canyon Blvd west into the Rockies to
Nederland (about 20 mins).
- From Nederland take 119 South approximatelly 2 mi to
county road 132W as marked on the maps (note: 132W is just
after mile marker 24 on the right and before marker 23 heading
south on 119). 132W is a dirt road 2 miles long. Also, there
should be a sign at the entrance 'camping' related. (Tip:
Entrance is several hundred feet just south of Sundance
Lodge)
- Travel to the end of 132W and park at the dead end. (the
dead end is actually a bunch of large boulders in the middle
of the road blocking it. It seems that there's more road
behind these boulders but unless you have a tank you probably
won't make it across. Not sure why it's like that)
